How to tell if your paint is metallic
Paint which has a metallic shimmer to it can only be mixed in our Polyester Basecoat products. This includes pearls, candys, and xirallic colours.
If your paint appears to have a glitter, metal flake, or a colour flip to it, it is highly likely to be classed as a metallic paint. These would need to be ordered in either our Polyester Basecoat paint or Premium Octoral Basecoat paint.
How to tell if your paint is a solid colour
If your paint is a flat, “solid” shade with no metallic shimmer, pearl, or glitter when viewed in direct sunlight, it is classified as a solid colour. Because these paints do not contain light-reflecting flakes, they are far more versatile in how they can be manufactured.
We can produce solid colours in a variety of paint types to suit your specific project:
-
2K or Basecoat: The modern standard for automotive refinishing, offering high durability and a professional finish.
-
Cellulose: The traditional choice for classic restorations, allowing for an authentic period-correct look that can be polished to a deep shine.
-
1K Synthetic: An hard-wearing, economical option specifically designed for tractors, agricultural machinery, and industrial applications.
