Chlorinated Rubber Paint

Our Chlorinated Rubber Paint is a fast-drying, solvent-based coating designed for surfaces requiring excellent water resistance and durable protection. Based on an alkyd resin / chlorinated rubber system, it produces a tough satin finish and is particularly well suited to swimming pools, concrete surfaces, metal structures and other water-exposed areas.

The coating can be applied by brush or spray and offers rapid drying at room temperature, making it a practical choice for both maintenance and refurbishment work where strong resistance to water is required.

Surface Preparation

Correct preparation is essential for adhesion and long-term performance. Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and loose material before application.

Concrete Surfaces

• New concrete must be fully cured and completely dry before painting.
• Remove loose material, contamination and any unstable surface deposits.
• Do not apply to damp concrete or surfaces containing trapped moisture.

Previously Painted Surfaces

• Remove loose, flaking or poorly adhered coatings.
• Abrade glossy existing finishes to provide a suitable key.
• Test compatibility before recoating an unknown existing paint system.

Metal Surfaces

• Remove rust, scale and corrosion before coating.
• Clean and degrease thoroughly.
• Ensure the metal is dry and properly prepared before application.

Mixing & Spray Setup

• Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
• For spray application, thin with approximately 25–30% Synthetic Thinner.
• Recommended spray nozzle: approximately 1.3–1.5 mm.
• Recommended spray pressure: approximately 2–3 bar.
• Apply 2 controlled, even coats.
• Allow approximately 5 minutes flash-off between coats.

Application

• Suitable for brush or spray application.
• Apply 2 smooth, controlled coats.
• Recommended total dry film thickness is approximately 50–60 microns.
• Avoid excessive film build.
• Ensure complete, even coverage, especially on surfaces that will be exposed to water.

Coverage

Theoretical coverage is approximately 7–9 m² per litre, depending on film thickness, substrate condition and application method.

Drying & Curing

At approximately 20°C:

• Handling dry: approximately 30–40 minutes.
• Through dry: approximately 2–2¼ hours.
• Maximum performance: approximately 15 days air drying.

Do not oven cure. Allow the coating to air dry fully for maximum performance.

For swimming pools and other surfaces that will be continuously exposed to water, allow the coating to achieve a full cure before water exposure.

Practical Application Tips

• Do not apply to damp concrete or moisture-trapped surfaces.
• Stir well before and during use.
• Apply controlled coats rather than one excessively heavy coat.
• Allow the coating to cure fully before continuous water exposure.
• Keep the working area clean and well ventilated.
• Test compatibility first when recoating an unfamiliar existing finish.

Equipment Cleaning

• Clean brushes and spray equipment immediately after use.
• Use a suitable cleaning thinner.
• Do not allow paint to dry inside application equipment.
• Dispose of paint and solvent waste responsibly and in accordance with local regulations.

Safety & Storage

• Professional solvent-based coating.
• Wear suitable gloves, eye protection and appropriate respiratory protection.
• Keep away from heat, sparks and ignition sources.
• Store in a ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
• Store between 5°C and 30°C.
