Our 1K Chassis Paint is a fast-drying, single-component anti-corrosive coating designed to provide durable protection for vehicle chassis, metal components and industrial metalwork.
Formulated for direct adhesion to suitably prepared steel, iron, aluminium and galvanised metal, it provides a tough protective finish with good chemical resistance. On suitable prepared substrates, no separate primer is required.
Its anti-corrosive properties help protect metal against rust, moisture and demanding environmental conditions, making it ideal for automotive, industrial and restoration applications.
Key Features
- Anti-corrosive protection – helps protect metal against rust and corrosion.
- Direct-to-metal adhesion – suitable for correctly prepared steel, iron, aluminium and galvanised metal.
- No primer required on suitable prepared substrates.
- Fast drying for reduced turnaround time.
- Good chemical resistance for demanding applications.
- Durable protective finish for automotive and industrial metalwork.
Suitable Uses
- Vehicle chassis
- Steel
- Iron
- Aluminium
- Galvanised metal
- Industrial metalwork
- Other suitably prepared metal components
Surface Preparation
Correct surface preparation is essential for reliable adhesion and long-term protection. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and free from grease, oil and contamination before application.
- Remove loose rust, corrosion and unstable existing coatings.
- Clean and degrease the surface thoroughly before painting.
- The coating is suitable for direct application to correctly prepared metal.
- No primer is required on suitable prepared substrates.
- Test adhesion first when coating an unfamiliar substrate or existing finish.
Mixing & Spray Setup
- Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
- For spray application, add 40–50% Synthetic Thinner by volume.
- Recommended spray nozzle: approximately 1.3–1.5 mm.
- Recommended spray pressure: approximately 2–3 bar.
- Apply 2 controlled, even coats.
- Allow approximately 10 minutes flash-off between coats.
Application
- The detailed technical application guidance is for spray application.
- Apply 2 controlled, even coats.
- Recommended total dry film thickness is approximately 45–55 microns.
- Avoid excessive film build.
- Maintain even coverage across the complete surface.
Coverage
Theoretical coverage is approximately 8–9 m² per litre, depending on film thickness, substrate condition and application method.
Drying & Curing
At approximately 20°C:
- Handling dry: approximately 4 hours.
- Through dry: approximately 6–7 hours.
At 60°C, drying time is approximately 30 minutes.
Allow the coating to air dry fully for maximum performance. Drying times may vary depending on temperature, ventilation, film thickness and application conditions.
Practical Application Tips
- Stir thoroughly before thinning and spraying.
- Keep the spray area clean and well ventilated.
- Maintain the recommended film build for best performance.
- Remove all loose rust and corrosion before painting.
- Test adhesion first on unfamiliar substrates or existing finishes.
Equipment Cleaning
- Clean spray equipment immediately after use.
- Use a suitable cleaning thinner.
- Do not allow paint to dry inside application equipment.
- Dispose of paint and solvent waste responsibly and in accordance with local regulations.
Safety & Storage
- Professional solvent-based coating.
- Wear suitable gloves, eye protection and appropriate respiratory protection.
- Keep away from heat, sparks and ignition sources.
- Store between 5°C and 30°C.
- Keep containers securely closed when not in use.
