U-POL Gravitex Plus HS Stone Chip Protector is a hard, durable one-component coating engineered to replicate the original manufacturer’s stone chip protective finish. Supplied ready-to-use, it delivers strong sound-deadening properties and high build—perfect for seamless coverage over welds and seams.

Key features include:

• High Build & Coverage: 100–150 μm thickness per coat (approx. 3–6 mils) with just 1–2 coats.

• Versatile Application: Use straight from the tin—no mixing needed. Acceptable substrates include original paint, bare steel, SMC, GRP, fiberglass, and polyester filler. For aluminium or galvanised surfaces, prime first with a suitable etch primer.

• Application & Coverage Tips: Apply 1–2 coats using a Schutz-style spray gun or brush. Maintain 3–5 bar (approx. 40–70 psi) for desired texture—less gives a flatter finish, more yields textured effect. Allow 10–15 minutes flash-off between coats.

• Drying Times: Approximately 4–6 hours at 20 °C; can be expedited to around 30 minutes with low bake or 80 °C IR.

• Recoat & Topcoating: Compatible with most paint systems. Use a primer or UV-clearcoat for optimum gloss/durability. For water-based basecoat systems, overcoat wet-on-wet or abrade lightly between coats.

• Storage & Shelf Life: Up to 2 years when stored sealed at 5–25 °C.

• VOC Compliance: Regulatory VOC: ~430 g/l (EU limit 840 g/l for category IIBe). Actual VOC around 412–430 g/l depending on colour.
