2K (two-pack) acrylic paint is a two-component coating system made up of:

• Paint (colour)

• Hardener (activator)

When mixed together, a chemical reaction occurs, creating a very durable, high-gloss and chemical-resistant finish. It is widely used in automotive refinishing for its strength and longevity.

Only solid non metallic colours can be mixed in 2K. This includes Ral, British Standard and most solid automotive colours such as Ford Frozen White.

2K acrylic paints are typically mixed to a 2:1 (Paint : Hardener) mixing ratio with an additional 10% 2K acrylic thinner.
We do supply other 2K products such as Primer, Lacquer and specialised coatings which have different mixings ratios - Please check product description or Data Sheets.

2K acrylic paint do require primer for adhesion. If painting bare substrates and Etch primer followed with a high build primer is the most common approach. Alternatively a 2K epoxy primer is newest method.

2K paint typically dries with a hard gloss finish not requiring a lacquer.

Yes. Once fully cured, 2K acrylic can be:

• Flatted (wet sanded)

• Machine polished

This makes it ideal for show-quality finishes.

Yes — provided the surface is:

• Properly sanded (keyed)

• Clean and degreased

• Compatible with 2K systems

A suitable primer or sealer may be required depending on the substrate.

2K hardeners containing isocyanates are hazardous if inhaled.

Proper PPE is essential:

• Air-fed mask (not just a cartridge respirator)

• Full protective clothing

• Suitable spray booth or well-ventilated area
